Get the Best Sound & Playability with a Professional Setup
Not every guitar plays or sounds the way it was meant to right out of the box. To achieve studio-quality tone and effortless playability, your guitar needs a professional setup.
Why Does Your Guitar Need a Setup?
Even brand-new guitars require a proper setup. Most guitars are shipped from the factory to a music store, experiencing climate and humidity changes along the way. These shifts can affect the instrument’s setup, altering the factory settings before it even reaches your hands.
Guitars are made of wood, which constantly absorbs and releases moisture. This natural movement causes the wood to expand and contract, affecting the neck, action, and overall playability. Once your guitar arrives in your home, it needs time to adjust to your local humidity and temperature. We recommend giving it a couple of weeks to settle before bringing it in for a Southeast Setup.
How Often Should You Get a Setup?
Manufacturers suggest getting a professional setup at least once a year—or every six months if you play frequently. Regular setups keep your guitar feeling and sounding its best.
A properly set-up guitar:
âś… Feels smoother and more comfortable to play
âś… Delivers clear, buzz-free notes
âś… Stays in tune better
âś… Enhances tone and sustain
Selling a Guitar? Get It Set Up First!
If you’re looking to sell a guitar, a well-playing instrument is far more attractive to buyers. A small investment in a Southeast Setup can help you sell it faster—and for a better price.
A Note on Strings
For the best results, we recommend using a fresh set of strings with your setup—even if you just installed a new set. The proper string length is essential for our process, and if your strings have already been cut and wound, they may not provide the length we need.
👉 You’re welcome to bring your own new set of strings or purchase a set from us. (For bass guitars, we can typically reuse the same strings.)
